1978 - Present

Supporting education, youth programs, and community development since its inception by Dora Collazo Levy and other local church activists. In 2012 Loisaida Inc. joined the Acacia Network, a human services organization conglomerate, and occupies the first floor of its original building on 9th street after 5 years plus in exile. They provide programming that maintains and builds upon the legacy of the Puerto Rican community in Loisaida focusing on youth, seniors, and the Loisaida Festival.

This project is an expansion of the themes from the exhibit Activist Estates: A Radical History of Property in Loisaida (2019) authored and designed by the urban historian and architect Nandini Bagchee in partnership with curator Libertad Guerra.

AELES is an evolving resource that can grow to include supplemental layers of the case studies selected and the ongoing survival and futuring intents of these legacies.
