CATHOLIC WORKER MARY HOUSE
1976 - Present
Operates as a soup kitchen and hostel. Part of a broader nationwide social movement— the Catholic Worker Houses are communities committed to nonviolence, voluntary poverty, prayer, and hospitality for the homeless, exiled, hungry, and forsaken. This particular building was a home to the founder — the radical pacifist—Dorothy Day until her death in 1980.
